CCA appoints new Chief Executive

The CCA has today announced the appointment of Malcolm Harrison as their new Chief Executive replacing Nanette Kerr. Mr Harrison is a former senior manager at Boots UK and Fellow of the NHS Innovation Accelerator Programme.

Margaret MacRury, Superintendent Director at Rowlands Pharmacy and Chair of the CCA, said “I am delighted to welcome Malcolm on board. He brings over 20 years of experience as a pharmacist and regional manager, and most recently led the Community Pharmacy Future programme road testing new and innovative pharmacy services. This leadership, intimate knowledge of our profession and industry, and forward-thinking attitude, will be essential as we mould a new relationship with the NHS and local healthcare providers.”

Speaking about his appointment, Mr Harrison said “This is a critical time for pharmacy and the NHS. I believe we can do more to relieve some of the pressures being felt by the NHS and ensure healthcare remains accessible and sustainable over the long term. On behalf of the member companies I look forward to working with all stakeholders in the community pharmacy sector to listen to, understand, and respond to the needs of the NHS and patients.”

Mr Harrison will take up his appointment on 5th March 2018 replacing Nanette Kerr, who has been at the helm of the CCA for the last two and a half years. “I want to pay tribute to Nanette who has led the CCA so effectively these past several years, in at times quite challenging circumstances. I look forward to continuing the great work initiated by Nanette and the CCA team and thank her for her support” added Mr Harrison.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the CCA but believe now is the right time to step aside and pass the baton to someone else” said Ms Kerr. “I believe Malcolm is the right person to lead the CCA and the sector at this critical time. He will take forward the vision and plans the CCA has for delivering pharmacy and health and wellbeing services in the communities we serve.”

Ms Kerr will be staying on after Mr Harrison takes up his appointment to support with a seamless transition and will leave the CCA on the 30th March 2018.
