The CCA has welcomed the Department of Health and Association of Public Health Observatories announcement that they would be providing every local authority and region with additional information to help them to monitor health inequalities.

20.06.2008 "CCA responds to government and industry price deal"

The CCA has issued its initial response to today's announcement that a significant deal has been reached by the Government and the pharmaceutical industry on parts of the new Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme.

Rob Darracott, CCA CEO comments:

"How these price changes play through the supply chain is the issue of fundamental importance for our members. January is the worst time for pharmacy to have to deal with prices changes, right after the busy Christmas period when stocks are high.

16.06.2008 "Directed Enhanced Services are a must do says the CCA"

In the wake of the Audit Commission and Healthcare Commission's report Is the Treatment Working, the Company Chemists Association (CCA) has analysed its findings and the implications for community pharmacy. The picture it paints comes as no surprise to the CCA, and echoes the feedback the CCA receives from its members who operate nationally across all the PCTs in England.

Although the report focuses predominantly on secondary care commissioning, its insights into how current policy levers are driving the internal market, service redesign and facilitating patient choice are very helpful. The CCA also believes it provides a pragmatic and realistic overview of the current impact of practice based commissioning. Given that community pharmacy is increasingly dependent on the competent PCT commissioners to drive local development of pharmacy services, its findings are of critical importance to CCA members.
