14.04.2010 "CCA Announces Chairman Appointment"

The Company Chemists’ Association (CCA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Murray Duncanson as their new Chairman.  The appointment follows the retirement of the present Chairman, Digby Emson, after 12 years in that post.  Murray will officially take up his Chairmanship in May 2010.

Mr Duncanson has held a number of senior managerial positions in the NHS, including Chief Executive of Barnet Healthcare NHS Trust; Chief Executive of Lothian Primary Care NHS Trust; Non-Executive Director of NHS Education Scotland and most recently, Interim Director of Organisational Development and Workforce Planning for NHS Medway.

Commenting on his appointment as CCA Chairman, Mr Duncanson said: "I am delighted to be appointed Chairman of the CCA at this exciting time and hope to personally support the Board and the organisation as it seeks to deliver its ambitions.   2010 is proving a pivotal year for community pharmacy and presents a real opportunity for the CCA to build upon the excellent work achieved throughout 2009. The CCA has grown and developed under the leadership of Digby Emson as Chairman, and CEO Rob Darracott and his team, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead the CCA in the coming years.

There are many challenges and changes ahead for the pharmacy profession; but with a strong proactive board and management team, the CCA will continue its proven track record of championing multiple pharmacy  - and delivering  a positive impact.  As Chairman, my key priority will be to represent our members' best interests”.

Welcoming the appointment, Rob Darracott, CCA Chief Executive, said: “The wide-ranging experience and skills set that Murray brings to the CCA will be of considerable benefit to the Association and its members over what looks like being a difficult few years for healthcare.  Murray’s fantastic experience as an NHS Chief Executive will be an invaluable asset to me and to the Board, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
