CCA comment on the publication of the Community Pharmacy Forward View: Making it happen

Today sees the publication of the important implementation framework of the Community Pharmacy Forward View, which sets out a range of options of how the whole sector can be developed further to achieve the collective intentions already set out; to be the facilitator of personalised care for people with long-term conditions; to be the trusted, convenient first port of call for episodic advice and treatment; and to be the neighbourhood health and well-being hub.

Margaret MacRury, Chair of the CCA said, “In many areas of the country community pharmacy is already delivering on the three core roles described.  The Forward View is about consistency and scale, seeing pharmacy effectively joined-up with other parts of the system and at the heart of a sustainable and efficient NHS. The framework published today demonstrates how this can be achieved and accelerated where necessary.

“CCA member companies now require NHS England to work collaboratively with the sector to deliver this vision, to bring confidence to contractors, drive integration with the wider health system and, to support the implementation of services which focus on delivering positive outcomes for patients. Along with the recent publication of the Murray Review on clinical community pharmacy services, there is a clear direction of travel and we will continue to support and work together, with the sector and partners to realise these ambitions for the future”.
